It's time to put a spring in your step with the #Wee Nature Fest!
We all need a bit of cheering up at the moment. The sight of spring flowers peeping their heads up is certainly lifting my spirits, so here's something to really cheer about: an online nature festival with some of the best and brightest authors around! We've lined up some really special authors to celebrate the vey finest nature writing in the UK today and we think you'll find something for everyone. Every book featured will be available with a 10% for the duration of the festival and to keep this as accessible as possible, every session is completely free! Kicking off the #Wee Nature Fest, we are delighted to welcome Roger Morgan-Grenville to discuss how a chance meeting in a pub led to a quest involving bees and the pursuit of midlife honey! Roger was a member of the Royal Green Jackets for nine years, was a founding member of Help for Heroes and has written several books including Not Out of the Woods and Unlimited Overs. Liquid Gold is a heart-warming, and very funny, exploration of beekeeping and how it led to some profound changes in Roger's Life. Liquid Gold will be available at 10% discount for the duration of the festival. To register for this free event, please email: weethreeindies@gmail.com Andrew Painting is involved in the largest rewilding project in Scotland at the Mar Lodge Estate in the Cairngorms. In the second of our #Wee Nature Fest events, he'll be discussing the work being done there and the stunning new book, Regeneration: The Rescue of a Wild Land with author and naturalist Jim Crumley. Jim's book, The Nature of Spring, the third in his seasonal quartet, is now available in paperback. Both books will be available at 10% discount for the duration of the festival. To register for this free event, please email: weethreeindies@gmail.com The festival continues with Cal Flyn's stunning exploration of places across the world that have been abandoned by humans, and how nature is recovering there. From empty neighbourhoods in Detroit to uninhabited islands Scottish islands, populated only by feral cattle, Islands of Abandonment is a timely and important book. Islands of Abandonment will be available with 10% discount for the duration of the festival. You can register for this free event simply by emailing: weethreeindies@gmail.com Patrick Laurie's beautiful account of his life as a farmer in 'a vanishing land' was shortlisted for the Wainwright Prize in 2020. Native details his experiences of raising the Riggit Galloway, a rare breed of cattle that demands a very different rearing method than that offered by largescale industrial modern farming. This is an important book and we are very much looking forward to discussing it with Patrick as part of the #Wee Nature Fest! Native will be available with 10% discount for the duration of the festival. To register for this free event, please email: weethreeindies@gmail.com We can't really think of a better way to end a weekend of celebrating nature than with this very special event which brings award-winning author and rewilding pioneer Isabella Tree together with author and naturalist Patrick Barkham, to celebrate the launch of her first children's book, When We Went Wild. Patrick's latest book, Wild Child is also launching in paperback. Both books focus on the importance of children exploring the natural world around them, and we can't wait to hear them in conversation in a session aimed at families young and old, and then finding a tree to climb ourselves! Both books will be available at 10% for the duration of the festival. To register for this free event, please just email: weethreeindies@gmail.com
